About the Role
Position Summary: The Cake Workshop Trainer is responsible for leading and instructing cake decorating workshops at a cake institute, focusing on both foundational and advanced techniques. This role involves designing and delivering engaging training sessions, providing expert guidance to participants, and ensuring a high standard of educational quality.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Workshop Planning and Design:
o Develop and design comprehensive workshop curricula, including lesson plans, training materials, and practical exercises.
o Create workshop content that covers a range of techniques, from basic cake decorating to advanced methods, tailored to various skill levels.
o Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate new techniques and styles into workshop offerings.
• Instruction and Training:
o Conduct hands-on workshops and classes, demonstrating cake decorating techniques, tools, and best practices.
o Provide clear, step-by-step instructions and ensure participants understand each aspect of the techniques being taught.
o Offer personalized guidance and feedback to participants to help them improve their skills and achieve their goals.
• Participant Engagement:
o Foster an engaging and supportive learning environment, encouraging creativity and collaboration among participants.
o Address participant questions and concerns, providing practical solutions and advice.
o Assess participant progress and provide constructive feedback to help them refine their techniques.
• Material Preparation and Management:
o Prepare and organize all necessary materials and supplies for workshops, including cakes, fondant, tools, and instructional resources.
o Ensure that all equipment and materials are in good working condition and replenish supplies as needed.
• Quality Assurance:
o Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety in the workshop environment.
o Evaluate workshop effectiveness and participant satisfaction, making improvements as needed based on feedback and observations.
• Administrative Duties:
o Assist with scheduling and coordinating workshop sessions, including managing registrations and participant communications.
o Maintain accurate records of participant progress and workshop outcomes.
• Promotion and Outreach:
o Contribute to marketing and promotional efforts by showcasing workshop highlights and success stories.
o Represent the cake institute at industry events and demonstrations to promote the workshop program.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in cake design and decoration, with a strong portfolio demonstrating advanced techniques and creativity.
• Proven experience in teaching or training, with the ability to effectively communicate and instruct diverse groups.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate participants.
Preferred Skills:
• Certification in Cake Decorating or Pastry Arts.
• Experience developing training materials or curricula.
• Familiarity with modern cake design software and tools.
Working Conditions:
• Standing for extended periods during workshops.
• Working in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, cold, and various kitchen equipment.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings or weekends, to accommodate workshop times and participant needs.
